Yes! EtherPad  - the dead simple real-time collaborative text editor is up and running again here: iEtherPad.com; I was an early user of the service, and really liked it.

There was quite an outcry about the lack of permanent alternatives for EtherPad. Google wave is coming up, but it's not for public editing. Ease of use, is another important factor.

I took it up to host and maintain it.
